Mr. & Mrs. coffee mugs

Today is a very special day for my hubby and I. Two years ago we were saying our vows. I can't believe it's been two years already. He has made my life wonderful in so many ways.

He makes me strong, makes me whole. I couldn't imagine not having him in my life. He is my world!

And he's mighty good looking too...

In honor of our anniversary I wanted to do a little something on those lines. I decided to make Mr. & Mrs. mugs. The mustache mugs are adorable but I felt it was time to represent the ladies too. I've never had super feminine handwriting so excuse my poor attempt at pretty cursive, but you get the gist.

Supplies:
2 coffee mugs
1 Black sharpie
1 Red sharpie
*Acetone (I found the acetone works great to remove the marker if you mess up)

Step 1: I did my mustache and lips freehand but if you are not comfortable doing this then I would recommend finding a printable stencil to work with.

Step 2: Draw your mustache and lips on the mug, then write Mr. & Mrs.

Step 3: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes. Be sure to let them cool because they will be very hot!

Note: Now from what I've read online it seems to be pretty hit or miss on whether or not the sharpie will stick to the mug. Some people have said they washed it in the dishwasher and had the sharpie come off. I currently do not have my dishwasher hooked up but after hand washing the mugs the marker stayed on. So if you don't want to chance it I would just go with hand washing.

Happy Crafting!

  3. Aww.. This is a really nice gift for your hubby, Georgia! I’m sure he loved it! Giving something to our loved ones doesn’t always have to be expensive. Sometimes, a cute mug crafted with love and effort is much sweeter than any other gift that you could buy in the stores. Good luck to the both of you! :) - Lissette Monroe

  4. I Love the mugs. Tried it myself it did not work. The sharpie came off so effortless :( So now i'm trying it with sharpie oil based paint pin to see how it works! Wish me good luck :)
